Drawing has been Brent Hale's passion since he was a dorky little kid with buck teeth and glasses. He stunk at sports, so most of my spare time was spent drawing. He drew hot rods and cartoons on everything – notebooks, church bulletins, napkins, the bottom of his tennis shoes. He did some of his best work on his blue jeans. He couldn’t help himself. He loved to draw.
His inspiration came from the classics – Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Tom and Jerry, Rocky and Bullwinkle. He loved cars and the guys that designed them, like George Barris, Big Daddy Ed Roth, Tom Daniels, and the great GM designers, Harley Earl and Bill Mitchell. From the world of commercial illustration, his rock stars were Norman Rockwell, J. C. Leyendecker, and Haddon Sundblom. He studied art at Stephen F. Austin State University and then Art Center College of Design where he majored in Industrial Design and Transportation Design. His art career began as a graphic designer working in outdoor advertising, design rooms, and advertising agencies, including Brookshires Grocery Company in-house advertising department. As Senior Art Director/Partner of Hanson Design, they created award winning design solutions. At the same time, they also partnered to form Wattu Wear “Art for the Human Torso” – designing innovative apparel with a nostalgic twist. Some of their creations were featured in Graphis Design Annual.

In 1995, Brent took the big leap and started Brent Hale Illustration and Design . As an independent illustrator and designer, he works with some of the best companies in the world on a wide range of projects in the fields of entertainment, advertising, editorial, and publishing. He gets to work on projects that challenge him and allows him to draw inspiration from the very things that made him want to be an artist in the first place.
